ASUS S1 LED Projector – Brightness for Presentations

ASUS S1 LED Projector iPhone

How bright is it?

The company’s manual for the ASUS S1 LED Projector tells us this little projector has the power to kick out 200 lumens of brightness.

What does this mean? Is this bright enough for presentations?

How does it handle PowerPoint and text? See the video at the bottom of the page.

Side Note: Besides professional use (business and classroom presentations), many also buy this as a portable projector for viewing movies, TV and streaming YOUTUBE videos.

Brightness and Screen Image Size

There’s much correlation between a projectors brightness and the how big of a view-able image it will be capable of producing.

Simply put, the brighter, almost always means the ability to produce a larger screen image.

What about the ASUS S1 LED

If you need a mini projector capable of producing a huge screen image, 200-300 inches. The ASUS S1 will not fulfill your need.

But the truth, currently in 2015, you will not find a mini/pico model capable of producing this large (200-300 inches diagonal) of an image. We take that back, of course you could but the image quality would be horrible.

From our testing this model produces the best picture at a maximum 100 inch screen. Any larger, you will notice the image quality begins degrade.

At 100-inches, you will not need complete darkness but for best image quality keep the room lighting low. In these dim room conditions the image produced is bright, colorful and shows a good amount of contrast between lighter and darker colors. In our opinion, this model handles PowerPoint text very well.

The video below is the best example we could find to demonstrate how large of a screen image the brightness output of this model will allow. Skip ahead to the 1 minute and 20 seconds point in the video.

Warning: We do like this model but the video tries very hard to sell it.For $300 we do think this model is worth buying for those who need a mini projector for both presentations and home use.

If you’re not quite sure on the best model for you, we would like to recommend the following new in 2015 models: Celluon PicoPro Projector and Rif6 Cube
